The New Britain Museum of American Art is a little over 5 miles from the Nova Farms location and carries a distinction most people don’t expect from a mid-size Connecticut city: it was founded in 1903 and is widely recognized as the first museum in the United States dedicated exclusively to American art. The collection spans centuries of American painting, illustration, and sculpture. It’s worth at least two hours. 

Walnut Hill Park, about 7 miles from the dispensary, was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same landscape architect behind New York City’s Central Park. Walking paths, open green spaces, and seasonal programming make it the kind of place that earns repeat visits. 

The New Britain Industrial Museum offers a different kind of local history. The city’s deep manufacturing heritage, including the story of Stanley Works, which was founded here in 1843. It’s a specific, well-documented slice of American industrial history rooted entirely in New Britain.
